Leonida Fusani, PhD

Director

After studying Biology at the University of Firenze, I moved to Cambridge, UK, where I obtained my PhD working with Dr. J. Hutchison at the Babraham Institute and M. Gahr at the Max-Planck-Institute for Behavioural Physiology, Seewiesen, on the neuroendocrine control of sexual behaviour in birds. After a period of work at the Max-Planck-Institute for Ornithology, Andechs (Host: E. Gwinner) and UCLA (Host: B.A. Schlinger), I went to Siena where I held a "Brain Gain" Assistant Professorship. Virginie Canoine, PhD

After a period of studies at the University of Tuebingen, I moved to Munich where I graduated with a MSc in Biology working with O.F.X. Almeida at the Max-Planck-Institute for Psychiatry on the effects of gonadal steroids on the regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis of rats. I did my PhD at the Max-Planck-Institute for Ornithology in Andechs, with Prof. E. Gwinner, with a thesis on the endocrine control of territorial behavior in birds. After a period as a post-doc at the University of Princeton (Host: M. Hau) and UCLA (Host: B.A. Schlinger), I moved together with Leonida Fusani to Siena and then Ferrara.

About us/ Our team

Our lab is integrated into the department of Biology at the University of Ferrara (Italy) and is working tidly together with other research groups.

1996 Diplom (Msc.) at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich (Germany) and the Max-Planck Institute for Psychiatry, Munich, with the title "Activational effects of gonadal steroids on the regulation of the hypothalamo-pituitary adrenal axis on rats". Supervisor: Dr. O.F.X. Almeida.

2001 Ph.D. at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich and the Max-Planck Institute for Ornithology, Andechs, with the title "Seasonal differences in the endocrine control of aggressive behaviour in captive and free-living stonechats". Advisor: Prof. E. Gwinner

Since 2001 different Post docs and lab experiences such as at the Princeton University, Pinceton, USA with Prof. M. Hau, at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), USA, with Prof. B.A. Schlinger and at the University of Siena, Italy with Prof. L. Fusani. Moreover superivised different projects also funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG).

Dott.ssa Marcella Felletti

Degree in Cell and Biomolecular sciences at the University of Ferrara in 2007 with a thesis entitled "Studio dell'attività biologica di estratti di semi di Beta Vulgaris in cellule tumorali" with 110/110 cum laude. Now worked in various reserch laboratories of the University of Ferrara, where he could develop some experience in the biological field. Since 2009 is a registered National Order of Biologists.
