Research Emphasis:
Amino acid biosynthesis in higher plants and microorganisms
Current research in his lab is focused on the following projects:
- Metabolism of proline in the plant cell response to either biotic and abiotic stress conditions
- Screening of new active principles for weed control targeting key enzymes in amino acid biosynthesis
- Aromatic biosynthesis in the interaction rice-Magnaporthe grisea
- Use of microalgae, mainly cyanobacteria, for bioremediation purposes
