The C-banding procedure followed by Giemsa or AO staining reveals a pattern of C-positive heterochromatin blocks in the chromosome of sturgeons. The specificity of the C-band patterns on different macrochromosomes allows to identify the macrochromosomes individually. The C-banding can be easily used for the routine cytogenetic studies of sturgeons.
